Academia

Before moving into industry (and later into education), I did a PhD under Olivier Ridoux at IRISA, followed by a postdoc in the Coccinelle project under Julia Lawall and Gilles Muller, and then a postdoc (2007–2009) in Yuanyuan Zhou’s Opera group, working mostly with Lin Tan. Semgrep’s pattern-matching approach traces back to the Coccinelle work.

  Code: yacfe (Yet Another C Front-End), the style-preserving C/C++ parsing and transformation library this paper is based on, itself descending from work on Coccinelle and on comment analysis. yacfe later grew into pfff, ancestor of today’s semgrep-pfff-libs / semgrep-pfff-langs.
